Living File goes visual with new picture upload feature

  • If you have just come back from a concert, trip or anything else you feel like writing a journal entry about and document with pictures as well, you'll be happy to know that you now can right here at Living File.
  • We have just put the finishing touches on a new feature that allows you to upload pictures to any activity or journal entry you write
  • For each picture you upload you can individually set the privacy setting for the picture to be shared or private, giving you full control over what is shared, and with whom
  • To check out the new feature simply add any activity and then go to the picture tab to upload your first picture
  • If you are not yet a Living File user, why not head over there and sign up now?

Configure your own journal layout!

  • Acknowledging that every Living File user is different, we have just finished deploying a new change that should make the site easier to use for everyone.
  • In the past the selection of visible input fields when adding a new activity has been based on the type of user you may have chosen to be. We have long since realized that this approach has not been as flexible as it needs to be, and we have now done something about it.
  • Every activity type can now be individually configured to show just the specific fields that are relevant to you, when adding an activity. You can however still access the additional fields if you should want to for a specific activity. Please use the Settings link in the left sidebar of the activity in question to configure it to your liking.
  • If you feel that an activity is missing a field, then please feel free to contact us with your suggestion.

Rich text editing options

  • Based on popular demand from questionnaire feedback, we have implemented a new feature that will allow you to use colors, bold, italics and more when adding certain activities.
  • The editing options can be used in long text areas in journal entries, restaurant menus and more, or in notes you add to any activity types.
  • You can try out this feature by adding a journal entry, restaurant visit or any other activity of your choice.

Share your online journal with the world

  • Until now your profile and online journal have been visible only to other users on the site.
  • But with the new options you can publish your journal and specific lists of books you've read or movies you've watched to anyone with an internet connection.
  • The default privacy option is for new journal entries to be visible only to friends, so only items that you have selected as "visible to everyone" will be affected. In other words, there is no need to worry if you don't want people to see your activities and haven't made active changes to your privacy settings.
  • As an added bonus your Activity Card now links directly to your configured journal lists. See how it works on our example user:

Go Invisible!

  • We're happy to announce a new privacy option that allows you to become completely invisible, even to other users on the site.
  • Check the invisibility box on your privacy settings and only people that are already your friends will be able to see that you even exist as a user.
  • You won't appear in user searches and if you don't have any friends on the site, you will be completely hidden.
You can tick the invisibility box on your privacy settings at www.livingfile.com

Ongoing design changes

As you may have noticed we are currently in the process of giving www.livingfile.com a much needed facelift.

The changes are still relatively small, but we plan to continue improving the look of the site over the coming weeks.

If you have any good ideas for us or feel that we have missed something particularly important, we would love to hear from you. As always, any feedback is more than welcome!

New default home page

In an attempt to make navigation easier to new and old users alike, we have introduced a new default home page at www.LivingFile.com with easy access to the links you use the most.

At the top of the page is a list of the most commonly used activity types that you can easily add to your list of favorites. Further down is your own list of favorites, which you can order as you like by dragging the boxes around.

At the bottom of the page is a list of the 5 latest journal entries you have registered.

You can still choose to have the Friend Feed or My Activities page be your default home on the site. The option can be found on your Preferences page.
